GY asked what happened with the Teamspeak V3 upgrade. Basically Telstra screwed the pooch and it didn't happen in March and for some bogus reason they couldn't email and tell us. I suspect it failed for some people and they couldn't tell who for some reason.

I submitted a support ticket following GY's enquiry and they immediately "upgraded" the server. This is basically a new v3 teamspeak server with new IP address and new accounts.

This means the V2 server will be decommissioned in a week around the 20th July 2010. You have to migrate to the V3 server.

I'm sorry for the short notice. Once I lodged the ticket enquiring about the upgrade Telstra seemed to leap on it and just did it. They must want everyone to migrate.

To use the new V3 server, I have added instructions to the WIKI. GY is setup as an admin and can also issue new admin accounts if you tell him what a sexy man he is.

The instructions:

================================
OLD POST

Gamearena will be upgrading the Teamspeak 2 server to Teamspeak 3 on 11th March.

All of the current server settings including users and channels will have to be recreated.

They also advise:

"Upgrading to TS3 may also mean you will also have a different IP and port to connect to your server on.

We will also allow your TS2 server to continue to run for another week after the upgrade to give your users time to move across."

So around 11th March there will be some changes to the Teamspeak server, and be on the lookout for new TS contact details. I will update the DNS address and wiki when it happens and advise any IP/port change via forum post and supply user account passwords via PM. If you want to create a ts.vaaf.net alias at that time and use that in the wiki doco instead that would be cool too.

The TS server has always been top notch!  Rep given and deserved  Cool

Looks like I'm heading home fellas.  I'll be returning late April and will be back in action early May.  Can't wait!

Unfortunately I have to blow all my savings skiing in France for 8 days before my return...

GameArena hasn't sent me anything else and the TS server is still V2. I don't know what they are doing. Will post when they do.

upkeep cost?

I'm very happy to do it to make a contribution, it's not a lot. I need to make more use of it myself!

Haven't been around much. I was given a acting managers job for "four months" while they restructured my org. So I worked very hard to make it permanent putting in ridiculous hours. After 22 months (!!!) they finally demoted a manager into the job and I went to another role. Suckful for my career, but a lot better for work-life balance, family and simming. Been playing Bad Company 2 mostly lately. I've got ROF and Black Shark gathering dust atm I should pull out and ARMA2 Arrowhead is on the shopping list.

You could create a DNS alias for ts.vaaf.net for the ts server if you want rather than use ts3.thommos.com

Just sayin' Smiley

I think leaving it as ts3.thommos.com reminds everyone of who is generously providing it.

Hope to see you soon in Arrowhead.
