JCOVE  (Joint Combat Operations Virtual Environment

JCOVE Lite is a freeware game derived from Bohemia Interactive's VBS2 software - itself a derivative of Armed Assault but focused on simulated training for military purposes. JCOVE Lite was funded by the UK MOD to give the general public, particularly potential recruits, an idea of how the British military trained for combat as well as providing a more realistic combat simulation than your standard shoot'em-up. Overall it gives serious gamers an immensely modifiable platform to create, share and play their own missions using a huge range of British military equipment - from the humble Sig 229 to the legendary Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank. It is available for free from Armed Forces Careers Offices around the UK, as well as available to download publically for all registered community members at jcove-lite.co.uk.

Two maps, training range in the UK and Iraq.  Enemy are conventional Soviet types or Taliban.  It is based on a highly modified version of ArmA1  VBS2 (Virtual Battle Space 2) is a very expensive made for military available to public simulator that covers many western nations but this is a free way to try it from the British point of view.  Only 2.3GB download  Grin

Thanks for sharing the find...

Ive just uninstalled it however... horrendous collision detection (I dont remember arma1 being that bad!!0 in the obstacle course made it more annoying than fun for me.

have to be millimetre perfect to get on ramps successfully.... easy to get stuck at top of ladders etc....

need a full UK MOD theme for arma1/2 then wed be set....

I agree the obstacle course is a pain.

But it's worth the look. The included desert map is gi-bloody-normous with huge cities. Might be good for some Machinima too.

There a TON of Brit vehicles. Only wish this was an ADF release!

ANZAC mod will be coming soon Thommo (As ADF has merged with ANZAC to increase its release speed), so a UK mod just needs to be made  Smiley
