Anyone interested in doing an aeo team for A2 (for showing off the clan, and useful for attack patterns etc  Wink)
(btw the advantage of ArmA II is that it has RAAF F/A-18F's, F-111's, F-35's etc Wink)

Hi guys,

Havnt checked into these forums for a while, glad Ted send me an email or I would not have know there was activity going on.

Well, using ArmaII is certainly an interesting idea, I have it myself, but from what I have seen the flight models are really a bit trashy.

Iceaxe, you havnt been seen over at the 104th in a while....??

Just a heads up, Polecat is cracking the whip about members being inactive not DLing meeting mintues etc so you better check into the forums kinda soon...

Cobra,

Firstly long time no see!............ How have you been?

So Lockon Flaming Cliffs 2 was released yesterday and i must say it is a massive improvement and an absolute dream for formation flying! I have looked and looked and looked and to my surprise i cannot find one aussie lomac server to join or participate in :S. I just stumbled across VAAF and its forums and noticed that you had made a post about starting a Lockon Aerobatic Team for Australia. My eyes almost popped out of my head and its been something i have been wanting to do for years!. If you are keen to start up an Australian Aerobatic team, and one day represent the team at Vfat, im all up for that. I think because we have the same amount of experience and flight experience at that, we have the right foundation to start a team and know what to look for to make a team work!. Let me know your thoughts and if ur internested, maybe we can meet in ventrilo one night. I think its time to represent Australia! Cheesy

Kind Regards, Shifty!

Hey Greg!

Myself & Cobra are creating a new team called the "Virtual Roulettes" using LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2. We will be emulating exactly what the REAL guys do during live performances, only we will be doing it in a flight simulator. The most important thing to concentrate on at the moment is recruiting pilots! A team is worth nothing if we don't have the team members. As one of the founder & creators of this team, i think it is my responsibility to make sure that we recruit at least 6 'full time' pilots. Practice schedules are yet to be discussed but i can assure you it will be more than 3 times a week.

For those who might be interested, please be advised that applying for the 'Virtual Roulettes' will be no 'ride in the park'. This is simply not playstation! The Virtual Roulettes will be a proud group of enthusiastic virtual pilot's emulating some of the best pilots in the world. As a team will be striving to become amongst the best in the virtual world of aerobatics (also known as VFAT), where we will strive to represent professionalism and dedication as shown by the real pilots of the RAAF Roulettes. Formation flying does not happen over night. It is one hobby that takes quite a bit of getting use to and requires plentiful amount of hours to 'get' results. It all comes down to practice & the team mates your flying with. If you have every intention of applying for the team and deciding not to turn up for practices than this is not the team for you. We are looking for dedicated pilots who are willing to learn and who can have fun!

For this team to work we will need to complete the following critera:

* successfully recruit and train six pilots for the roulette demonstration
* successfully be able to fly the low & high show demonstration with all 6 wingman
* create a virtual roulette mod using 3ds max which will be modded over 1 of 2 flyable aircraft in lockon flaming cliffs 2.0 (currently working on that at the moment)
* dedicated server, i am more than happy to host for the time being. Currently working on a flyable mission that we will use for practice.
* I am sure we will be able to find an existing ventrilo server to join, if not i can organize one!.
* create a website/movies...... etc. Again this is worth nothing if we 'cant' fly formation!!!.

We as a team must pass the above criteria BEFORE we decide to go publicly with the team. That will also apply to website release, movie releases etc.

If you have any questions or you are interested in joining, please email me on: michaelmcj@internode.on.net   OR    email cobra on :mglynn@optusnet.com.au

Cobra and I will be organizing a ventrilo meeting sometime next week, i believe it may be tuesday evening at 8:00pm. If any one has any question or would like to find out more about the 'virtual Roulettes', don't hesitate to email me as i will be more than happy to give you ventrilo details!

Kind regards, Shifty

Ok Great News,

Well, I was going to join up with Ted and the other guys, but I do not have reliable internet at the moment.

However, when I do get it, I would love to join. I am serious about joinging an aerobatic team, it is something I would love to do, and I would be committed to it.

Anyway, even in the meantime, one of my hobbies is movie making, you can check out my latest film here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRq238FMNAc

Also, I have started a course in Digital Media, so I will only be getting better and better at this sort of thing. I would love to put my hand up for the role of Movie Maker, even if I cant make it as a pilot for the moment.

Funk, are you available at anytime today or this evening? We could meet in ventrilo and have a chat if you'd like, or even better get some formation flying in!

Oh btw, do you have Lockon Flaming Cliffs 2? If not, what version of lockon are you running?

i like funk was focused on the team that ted was setting up but after having a site set up and training sessions and even a ts server with a phantom training server set up and even a brand new model created so that we could actually compete as the true virtual raaf roulettes that even included custom sounds the project has stalled an no one seems to be communicating

Ok i thinks it's time for an update!

Our aim eventually will be be flying in LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2, but i think we'll start our routine training in LockOn Flaming Cliffs 1.12b until everybody who wishes to join the Virtual Roullette's have purchased and downloaded the update. For those who have Flaming Cliffs 1.0 and wish to apply for the 'Virtual Roulette's' all you need to do is download the Flaming Cliffs 1.12b patch. For those who are interested in applying who already have LockOn Flaming Cliffs 1.12b, i will be hosting the first 'VR' pracitce on tuesday at 8:00pm eastern standard time! Please let me no in advance if you wish to participate in tuesday's practice because ven details will need to be handed out. You can find my email in previous posts.

'Be there or be sqaure!'  Smiley

BTW: I have made a server mission file which will be used for our training sessions (purely for what we do) which i will distribute over ventrilo on tuesday night. There will be a short brief for those who wish to apply for the team. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!

Gday iceaxe,

Firstly i had no idea 'someone else' had even started little lone created a Virtual Roulette team. I think it's great that someone has actually stepped up to the plate and FINALLY created a Roulette team. Creating a Virtual Roulette team in LockOn Flaming Cliffs has been a goal of mine for years, finding the members was quite a challenge so i ended up giving up on the idea. I met Cobra back in 2005 back when he flew for the Virtual Thunderbirds, and just recently i stumbled across the VAAF forums and noticed that cobra had also attempted to create a aerobatic team. Cobra & i have already brained stormed ideas for the new team & if you guys are interested maybe we can get together in either ts or ventrilo and chat about the ' Virtual Roulettes'! Why not come together as a team a represent the RAAF for what it's really worth! I'm sure you can see just how serious & dedicated Cobra & I are about creating a Roulette team.

So how about it, let's meet in ventrilo and talk about this! Just finished looking at your website, very impressing! If we come together as a team we could potentially have more than 6 demo pilots. Again, if you read my previous posts you will notice that i would be more than happy to take responsibility as BOSS as it is the most 'hardest' position to fly. Again our aim is to fly in LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2.0. What sim are you guys currently using?

Let me know what you guys think
